History
The present HOSOKAWA MICRON B.V. is the result of the merger of four companies in the Netherlands that were in the business of making process machinery. The Japanse HOSOKAWA MICRON CORPORATION acquired these companies during the last two decades of the 21st century and merged them together, combining a wealth of knowledge and expertise in one organization. These companies were Nautamix, Vrieco, ISEM and Schugi.
Nautamix was founded in 1923, as J.E. Nauta started a mechanical workshop in Haarlem. In 1946 he developed the famous Nauta mixer. Vrieco originated from the mechanical workshop of J.W. de Vries in the 1930’s, specializing in mixing machines and conveyors for powdered products. ISEM was founded in 1928 and manufactured machinery for the production of rayon. Schugi started in 1925 as merchants in tropical produce. They developed a machine for processing molasses, which later evolved to become the Flexomix agglomeration system.
Hosokawa Micron Group
The HOSOKAWA MICRON GROUP is a world leader in providing process solutions in the fields of powder and particle processing and blown film technology. The company maintains facilities for research, engineering, manufacturing and service throughout Europe, Asia and North America. The HOSOKAWA MICRON GROUP’s international headquarters is located in Osaka, Japan.
Products & services

Nauta® Minimix
Hosokawa Micron B.V. has a range of small laboratory mixers in her delivery programme which are already applied in many laboratories. For testing and experimental purposes small batches of product can be produced in this small mixer. The result of these tests can be used for scaling up to larger mixer sizes. Features: • Exchangeable containers • Easy cleaning • Variable speeds • Reliable scale-up data • CE-certificate • Orbit arm with timing belt

Vitomix Ribbon Screw Mixer
The Vitomix ribbon screw mixer is a mid-shear mixer capable of ultra-short cycle times with up to 8 times more transport volume than conventional ribbon screw mixers. The Vitomix, also known as ribbon screw blender, also has a wider range of operation using tip speeds from 0.4 m/s to 6.0 m/s. This multi-functional ribbon screw mixer combines gentle mixing and mid to low shear in the one compact machine. It's ideal for the addition of liquids and creates a homogenous mixture without using lump breakers. The ribbon screw mixer is an energy-efficient mixer that reduces energy costs and saves on mixing time.

Nauta Vacuum Dryer
The Nauta® conical screw vacuum dryer is a universal batch dryer suitable for drying materials such as powders, granules, pastes and viscous slurries, especially when products are heat sensitive, contain solvents and are toxic or explosive. The Nauta® conical screw vacuum dryer is capable of handling products that become heavy and sticky during drying and can also be used for vacuum operations such as reaction/crystallisation, heating/cooling, sterilisation, liquid/solid separation and de-aeration.

Continuous Flash Dryer, Drymeister
The flash dryer from Hosokawa is the first drying system of its kind to be patented anywhere in the world. It has been developed to combine drying, de-agglomeration/milling and classifying in one piece of equipment. The latest edition of this flexible drying technology is the Drymeister® (DMR-H): a flash dryer that can dry temperature-sensitive products, safely, even under increased temperatures, in a matter of seconds! The Drymeister® can handle moisture content fluctuations from a few % up to more than 80% in suspensions, slurries, pastes, dough, filter cakes and wet powders. It requires 75% less space and uses about 30-40% less energy per kilogram of evaporated water.

Mini Cyclomix lab mixer
Stand-alone lab mixer with exchangeable product bowls The Mini Cyclomix lab mixer is a high shear batch mixer with exchangeable product bowls of 0.1, 1 or 2 litres, based on the principles of the Cyclomix. It's especially suitable for pharmaceutical applications such as blending DPI formulations.

UPZ fine impact mill / pin mill
The fine impact mills belonging to the Ultraplex® UPZ product line are used for grinding finenesses in the range 50 µm to 5 mm. A wide range of grinding elements is available, making it possible to operate the UPZ as a pin mill if required.
